Cookies

Nothing. The landing page, the pricing page, the terms, this page and the contact page set no cookies at all.

The exception is the sign-up form and the password-reset form, which run Cloudflare Turnstile to tell a person from a script. Cloudflare may set a cookie of its own for that check. It is not used to track you across sites, and it appears on those two forms only.

Our host tells the site which country a visit comes from. It is used for one thing — showing a note to visitors outside Australia that the weather and disease risk will not cover them — and it is not stored.

All of them, in full. There are three, and only the first is set before you sign in.

No other cookie is set, by us or by anyone else. There is no advertising cookie, no analytics cookie and no tracking pixel on any page, which the site’s Content Security Policy enforces rather than merely promises: the browser is told to refuse scripts from anywhere but us.

Seven things are stored in your browser rather than as cookies, under the names an-theme, an-record-mode, an-auto-structure, an-note-draft-v1, an-audio, an-location and agronomynote:insights:last. None of them leaves your device, none is sent to us, and all of them can be turned off together below.

• Whether you chose light or dark.
• Which kind of recording you last made — a note, a reminder or a spray — so the record screen opens on it next time instead of asking every time.
• Whether you last chose to have a note structured for you or kept in your own words, so the switch stays where you left it.
• A copy of a note you have recorded but not saved yet, so it survives the app closing, the battery going flat, or your phone deciding to reclaim the tab. This is the one worth keeping: without it, an unsaved note is gone.
• A recording that could not be transcribed, and only that one. If the transcription fails the audio stays in your browser so the recording is not lost, and the record screen offers it back. It is erased as soon as it transcribes, erased if you throw it away, and discarded after 24 hours either way. Once a recording has become text, no audio is kept.
• That locating has worked here, and the last position it gave — rounded to about a kilometre, the same as what is sent to fetch the weather. It is what lets the Insights screen read the forecast where you are without asking you to tap for it on every visit. One position, overwritten each time; not a trail.
• The last Insights reading — the forecast and what it said about your paddocks — so the screen is not blank while a fresh one loads on a slow connection. It is only ever shown back to the account that read it, is at most an hour old, and goes when you sign out.

The Insights screen can use your location to fetch the weather for that spot. Your browser asks you before it answers, and nothing happens until you allow it. The position is rounded to about a kilometre before it leaves your device, and it is used to make the request rather than kept on our servers.

What is saved to your account is the place you choose to read the weather at, if you pick one by hand, and the growing region it falls in — because the disease risk is worked out from that, and because it lets the screen keep working with location switched off.

The switch for the location itself is your browser’s, not ours: use its settings for this site to take the permission back. Turning off the group above forgets the remembered position on this device.

Subscriptions are handled by Stripe. When you subscribe, or open your billing details, you are taken to Stripe’s own pages, and Stripe sets cookies there under its own policy. Card and bank details are entered on those pages and never pass through this site. Nothing about payment is kept on your device by AgronomyNote; what is kept on your account is a reference to your Stripe customer record and the state of your plan.

Nothing counts your visit today. There is no Google Analytics on this site and there will not be, and at the moment there is no analytics of any kind: the only record that you visited is the short-lived request log our host keeps, which the privacy policy describes.

When we do want to know how many people read which page, it will be Vercel Web Analytics, which is built into the host the site already runs on. It sets no cookie and keeps no identifier that outlives the visit, so it cannot follow you from one day to the next or across other sites, and there will be nothing on your device to accept or decline. This page will say so plainly on the day it is switched on.

When the AgronomyNote apps for iPhone and Android are released they will keep on the phone, under the phone’s own controls: your sign-in, encrypted; a recording that is waiting for signal, until it has been sent and transcribed; a copy of your notes, growers, follow-ups and the last Insights reading, so they can be read with no signal, which goes when you sign out; and the same preferences as above. Follow-up reminders are scheduled by the phone itself, so no notification service is sent anything to deliver them. Microphone, camera and location are each asked for when first needed and can be taken back in the phone’s settings.

• No advertising, and no advertising networks.
• No third-party tracking cookies, no pixels, and no cross-site profiles.
• Nothing on your device is sold or shared.
• What happens to your notes on our side is in the privacy policy, including the de-identified regional trends described there.

Every browser lets you see, block and delete cookies for a site from its settings. If you block the session cookie you will not be able to stay signed in, and the app will not work; everything else here can be blocked or cleared without losing anything that is saved to your account.

You can change this whenever you like, here or from Settings. Turning off the second group also deletes what was already stored under it — the colour choice, the unsaved note, the held recording and the remembered position.
